If you're thinking about moving to Bluffdale, UT with kids, school questions probably sit near the top of your list. Here's the good news: Bluffdale has more school choice than most people expect for a city its size. It has two district elementary schools, a middle school that opened in 2020, and four public charter campuses inside city limits.

All Bluffdale homes are in Jordan School District, and Bluffdale is part of the district's Riverton feeder area. Jordan District splits grades  three ways: elementary is K–6, middle school is 7–9, and high school is 10–12. The charter schools use their own grade splits, which I've noted below.

Jordan School District Schools Serving Bluffdale

Elementary Schools (K–6)

  • Bluffdale Elementary | K–6 | 14323 S. 2700 West, Bluffdale, UT 84065
Home of the Bulldogs, with a Portuguese Dual Language Immersion program.
  • Mountain Point Elementary | K–6 | 15345 S. Puma Mountain Way, Bluffdale, UT 84065
Home of the Pumas, with a Spanish Dual Language Immersion option.

Middle School (7–9)

  • Hidden Valley Middle | 7–9 | 15410 S. Harmon Day Drive, Bluffdale, UT 84065
Home of the Hawks. It opened in August 2020 on the same south Bluffdale site as Mountain Point Elementary, after Bluffdale Elementary had grown to nearly 1,300 students with 12 portable classrooms.

High School (10–12)

  • Riverton High | 10–12 | 12476 S. Silverwolf Way, Riverton, UT 84065
Bluffdale doesn't have its own district high school. Most Bluffdale students attend Riverton High, which also offers Portuguese Immersion. That makes it a natural next step for kids coming up through Bluffdale Elementary's program.

Public Charter Schools in Bluffdale

Charter schools are tuition-free public schools. You apply to attend them rather than being assigned by address.

A Parent's Guide to Bluffdale Schools: Questions I Hear Most

How do school boundaries work in Bluffdale?

Jordan School District draws a separate attendance boundary for each elementary, middle and high school. Those lines follow streets, not city limits. Most Bluffdale addresses feed Hidden Valley Middle and then Riverton High, but which elementary you're assigned to depends on where you live in the city. Two homes a few streets apart can be assigned to different schools. The district also adjusts boundaries as new neighborhoods fill in. Right now it's reviewing a change for the 2027–28 school year that affects Mountain Point, Hidden Valley and Riverton High boundaries. It covers the undeveloped area along the new Mountain View Corridor extension, where no students currently live.

How can I check which schools a specific address feeds?

Use Jordan School District's Boundaries & Bus Stops lookup. Type in the exact street address and it shows the assigned elementary, middle and high school for the current school year. You can also call Planning & Enrollment at 801-567-8183. Before my buyers go under contract, I have them check the address themselves, and I check it too. Never rely on a listing description or on a neighbor's kids.

Can my child attend a school outside our boundary?

Yes. Jordan District runs a School Choice (open enrollment) program. Permits depend on how much room a school has. For the 2027–28 school year:

  • Phase 1 (lottery): November 15 – December 31, 2026
  • Phase 2 (first come, first served): January 1 through the first Friday in February
  • Late applications: after that, only if a school has space

Once a permit is approved, you don't reapply each year while your child stays at that school. You apply again only when they move up to the next school level or you move. Getting to and from an out-of-boundary school is generally up to you. Charter schools like North Star and Summit Academy run their own separate applications and lotteries, so check each school's enrollment page for its deadlines.

How do schools affect home values in Bluffdale?

Schools are one of the biggest reasons families choose one Bluffdale street over another. In Bluffdale, families often ask specifically about the dual immersion programs: Portuguese at Bluffdale Elementary (which continues at Riverton High) and Spanish at Mountain Point. Being close to the charter campuses matters to many buyers too. A home assigned to a school buyers are asking for tends to draw more interest and sell faster than a similar home just across a boundary line. For sellers, knowing which schools your home feeds, and saying so accurately in the listing, is part of pricing and marketing it well.

Finding the Right Home for the Right School

As a Realtor who specializes in Bluffdale, I help families match the schools they want with the homes available near them. That might mean a Bluffdale Elementary address for Portuguese immersion, a south-end home near Mountain Point and Hidden Valley, or a home close to Summit Academy or North Star. I've been licensed since 2005 and work with both buyers and sellers across Bluffdale and the rest of the south valley.
